Research Services  |  Fill Out a Heritage Card Online

The Lillian Anderson Jensen Memorial history Library offers a wide range of area history information, including:

• Courage Enough Book I (Book II is currently out of print) - contains family histories of the MonDak area from the late 1800s to 1960.
• Sidney Herald newspapers from 1908 to the present, and other MonDak area newspapers.
• Heritage Record Cards: lists information on individuals and their families who are currently living in the area or who have previously. The information is provided by area residents or pulled from obituaries and other sources.  You can even fill out your own Heritage Card online!
• Some county and town histories from the area.
• Some Richland County cemetery listings.

The Heritage Center does not house marriage, birth or death certificates, or specific homestead information. Please contact the Clerk of Court or Clerk and Recorder in the county where the subject of your search may have resided.

Some local history books are available for sale. If you are interested, please call (406-433-3500) or stop by the Center at 120 3rd Ave. SE in Sidney, MT  for more information.

MDHC Research Services

Obituaries: To request an obituary, please e-mail us at mdhc@midrivers.com or send a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope with the name, exact date and location of the individual who's obit you'd like us to look for. Heritage Record Cards are also checked and will be photocopied if one is found matching your request.

Courage Enough Books: To request a look-up in the local history books, please send a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope and include the full name(s) of the person you'd like us to find information on for you.

Research: To submit a general research request for information, genealogical or historical, please send a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope and the information you'd like us to look up for you.

Cost for Our Research Services: We ask for a monetary donation of your choice to be made to the Heritage Center for each of the services listed above. Please allow up to three weeks research time. While most information will be sent sooner, the Center has a small staff and some requests may take longer to research.

MDHC Heritage Record Cards

Are you or someone you know a current or former resident of the MonDak area? Then we encourage you to fill out a Heritage Record card from the MonDak Heritage Center. The Center currently has more than 10,000 "Heritage Cards" in its files providing invaluable information for historians, serious genealogy researchers and curious family members, alike.

To set up your own Heritage Record, fill in the form below to the best of your ability, or use the pdf file below to fill in by hand and mail the completed form to the MonDak Heritage Center at 120 3rd Ave SE, Sidney, MT 59270. If you are filling out a card for a deceased relative and have a picture with an obituary, please send a copy to the MonDak Heritage Center to be included with your card.
